ADD. Should I tell colleges that I have it?
On one hand, it's very much a salted wound for me and I make a point of telling as few people as possible. Even my school doesn't know about it. Also, colleges might see it as a sign of mental weakness or some such.
On the other hand, it could help explain to colleges why my grades are lower when my class levels, SATs, and recommendations are all very good.
Should I tell them? Obviously I'm not applying to LD-specializing colleges...places like Kenyon (reach), Lewis & Clark, VCU, Bennington.
You're not obligated to tell them. And nowadays something like ADD isn't considered a "mental weakness." There are a lot of people on campus with bigger problems than yours. You can function, so they won't bother you.
