The first time I met Bob Geldof was back in 1984 and I didn`t recognise him at first and spent a short time talking before I realsed who he was,He was (then)a humble man who always had the time of day for you,Even during his Ethiopia appeal and the subsequent Live Aid concerts he always stayed loyal to his convictions and his upbringing.
His outspoken ways and private life have hit the headlines all too often and altered peoples perceptions of him.He still stands for third world aid and the embeterment and sanctaty of the lives of so many he has never met.He put his career in jeopardy for his beliefs.Ok so it didn`t all go the way he wanted but at least he tried to do something,and quite possibly a lot more than any of us could do .He used his position to make a noise that those in government would have tried to ignore.
He`s no saint ,we can all see that but at least he tried.
