Shouldn't Vanity Fair and Anne Lebowski be charged with child pornogrpahy?
They took pictures of a semi-nude 15 year old girl...they exploited a minor...and now news stations like O'Riley are running sexy photos of a 14 year old girl on national TV...what is there motive...People want to talk bad about Micheal Jackson...but isn't what Vanity Fair and Bill O'Riley doing just as bad they are intentionally or not, are promoting child pornography!

Yes - I am! And not about the issue of the pictures (I am not against consenting adults publishing nude pictures of themselves), but at the fact that she is only 15 years old (a minor) and at the blase attitude that seems to be taken by so many people.
The people that published these pics don't care - look at the publicity they're getting (how many of you went off to have a look at them when you heard about it?)
I have already posted on this issue but, as much as I don't like to repeat myself, we are missing some very imprtant points here.
The law in my country is quite clear on children under 16, affording them certain protection as minors. As I see it, anybody that abuses the responsibility that adults have toward children, whether mentally, physicaly, emotionally or for profit are guilty of child abuse - whatever the degree. There is no excuse.
There is more than one guilty party in this case - her parents/guardians have a duty to ensure that she is not exploited, as do her agent and contract holders (TV company). Publishers also have a responsibility to ensure that what is published by them or on their sites does not break any laws and upholds certain standards. Bending of these rules will ultimately lead to a lowering of these standards and eventually a position where there is no respect for the rules at all. This can only harm children, who - as they are not afforded their own rights in the legal system and, as they are dependant on adults in making/enforcing these rules - will be the ones that pay the price for our lack of diligence/respect in making sure that these codes are followed.
If she were over the age of consent then I wouldn't have the same problem with this. I am amazed that no-one seems to care about the implications that could follow if we don't make a stand. Where do we draw the line? 14? 13? 10? Children younger being sexualised in images because no-one seemed to bother about a semi-naked 15 year old. The law is there for a reason - to protect children. It will be them that suffer - not us - if we allow this to continue and, as far as I'm concerned, we do NOT have the right to do that.
