Any insider information on how postcard deals work?
There is a small chance that a local postcard company will publish my photograph but if they do I have no idea what to expect money-wise.
I heard somewhere that the industry standard is about an 100$ one-time fee for infinite use of your photo.
That means you don't get a penny of royalty, right?
Anyone know more? Are there other probable variations of the deal?

Yes, selling your photos as royalty free means that they pay you a one-time fee and they can reproduce and redistribute your image in any way they want. In theory, this means that they could use your images for other purposes then printing them on post cards.
That's why you should negotiate a rights protected license where the license fee is determined by their specific use. This license would specify that they can only reprint your images for post cards. You may also specify a for how long they may use your images usually 1-3 years) and also limit by territory. For example, you might want to license your images for 1 year, post cards only, and in USA and Canada only.
I would suggest you make a thread on photo.net in the business section (http://photo.net/business-photography-forum/). There's probably a greater chance of getting specific answers there in regards to how much you would earn.
