The story of the 'Time Machine' by H.G.Wells was made into a movie starring Rod Taylor. At the end ...
of the movie, it was discovered Taylor took with him three books when he left for a far and distant time. If you could travel through time, a few thousand years, to a new and primitive society, what three books would you take with you...and why?
Remember, just three books!
Sorry to tell you but tis is a trick question. Every teacher has asked it of students since te story was written and normally people misinterpret the question all together. It was never intended to ask you what books would you take with you but if you were him what books would you take with you and that answer is simple. The story is about how man used science to all but destroy civilization. Taylor discovered a chance to correct the problem. How? By not allowing science to corrupt that new world. How is that possible to corrupt this new world? Easy, with a time machine. The first book you need to grab is your lab journal. It tells you how to build the machine. The next book you need is your financial journal. It tells you what all you need to build the machine. Finally, you need your personal journal. It discusses what all you were thinking including the project. Take those three books and the time machine and there is no way anyone can follow you. Noone in the future can read so the information is lost forever and unless you demonstrate how the machine works it too is just a giant paper weight. It is sad that so few people actually read the book and took to heart its message. I would have done the same.
BTW, Taylor was also the name of the astronaut in Planet of the Apes. Just something to think about while you are thinking about movies.
