Is Roy Clark or Jerry Reed the best Guitarist in Country Music
Now, even though both Clark and Reed are great and are among my favorite guitarists (regardless of genre), I don't think I'd consider either of them to be the best guitarist in country music. However, they'd both definitely make a top 10 list and possibly a top five list as well. Out of those two, I'd have to go with Reed.
In all honesty, I'd say that Brad Paisley could outplay both of them...with Paisley, you basically get a bit of Chet Atkins, a bit of Jerry Reed, a bit of Brent Mason, a bit of Albert Lee, a bit of Steve Wariner and a lot of non-country guitarists mixed in as well. Of course, Roy Clark's recordings with jazz guitar virtuoso Joe Pass were outstanding, but I still think he'd have at a least a slightly tough time playing like Paisley.

When I saw Paisley playing that on the CMA's last year, I had never seen someone play a Jerry Reed song with a regular pick, since most do what Reed did and use a thumb pick...
That kinda reminds me--I want that album that Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins did together called ME AND CHET/ME AND JERRY. Those two together were outstanding!
